School is back in session, so I thought it would be fun to share with you how I made the food for the American Girl Doll Hot Lunch Set. My daughter loves to play school with her dolls, and this set adds to the school-day fun!
I used several different brands of polymer clay for my doll food, like Sculpey III, Premo, and Fimo brands. I used a variety of colors, which are shown in the video, and tools to form the food. Here is a basic list of supplies I used:
- Polymer clay in the following colors:
- Dough (beige)
- Dark brown
- Various greens
- Polymer clay glaze (optional)
- Chalk pastels
- Dotting tools
- Tooth brush
- Aluminum foil
I created a milk carton for the lunch like the American Girl set, but thought it would be nice for the dolls to have a choice in beverage. My daughter loves apple juice for a special treat, so I created an apple juice box template for the dolls, as well.
I used a recycled plastic tube that was part of a set of photo props for the juice box straw, and a plastic fork from this tutorial.
I made the tray from scrap craft wood leftover from my school desk craft and will post a tutorial if anyone needs it.
Here is the template printable! Print on cardstock for the best results.
I demonstrate in the video how to make the baby carrots, burger, brownie, cheese stick, and drink boxes. Leave a comment if you want me to show how I made the fruit!
Please watch the video and let me know what you think!
